CREATIVE BREAKS
ABOUT CROSSROADS
The idea for Crossroads Care Attendant Services arose out of a situation
depicted in the TV series "Crossroads" in 1972.
One character was disabled by an accident and the effect of this on family and
carers was dramatically portrayed.
Many of the viewers identified with the situation and a group of people, including
a disabled viewer, got together to set up the first Crossroads Care Attendant
Scheme in Rugby in 1973. The first scheme in Scotland was set up in 1977.

Creative Breaks
Creative Breaks is funded by the Scottish Government as
part of its commitment to the development of short breaks
for the benefit of carers and those they care for.
As an unpaid carer, it can be difficult to spend time and
money on yourself.
By enabling you to take a short break either in the form of
a brief holiday away, attending a family event or even going
on a course to try something new.
Creative Breaks
If you are a Carer living in Cowal & Bute, then you are eligible to make an
application to the Creative Breaks Fund.
Contact us for more information or an application form.
You can complete the application form by yourself or get
help with completing the form.
The completed application form is reviewed by the Panel
to
make a decision.
If the application is successful, the agreed Short Break will take place.
After the short break there will be an evaluation process which
will assess how the break has benefited you.
